French Writing Exercise: Max Is Sick
This French writing exercise helps students tell a short story from six pictures. Max is sick: he wakes up with a sore throat, goes to the doctor, buys medicine at the pharmacy, rests at home and receives a visit from friends.
Two versions are included: a present tense version and a past tenses version using the passé composé and the imparfait. Non-members can download the free watermarked present tense version.
🧠 How the activity works
Students first put the pictures in chronological order, then write Max’s story. The vocabulary box at the bottom of the worksheet gives them useful words and expressions.
- Look at the six pictures and understand the situation.
- Number the pictures in the correct order.
- Use the vocabulary support: wake up, have a sore throat, go to the doctor, buy medicine, rest, receive a visit.
- Write the story in the present tense or in the past tenses, depending on the version.
