✨ What the worksheet trains
Reading a calendar is not just finding a number: it means decoding the initials of the days (L, M, M, J, V, S, D — two M’s here, for mardi and mercredi), matching the row of the day with the column of the month, then writing the date in full words. Exercise 2 goes the other way: read a date written out (« le lundi 16 mars ») and place it in the right spot.
Two directions, one skill: finding one’s way through time in French. And along the way, a useful notion: un trimestre = 3 mois — here, the first quarter of the year.
Look at the three months — January, February, March — and the day initials.
L = lundi, M = mardi, M = mercredi, J = jeudi, V = vendredi, S = samedi, D = dimanche.
Exercise 1: write the full date of six events already noted on the calendar.
Exercise 2: place six new dates on the calendar.
📅 The two exercises
Six events are already noted (Paul’s birthday, the doctor’s appointment, Leïla’s wedding, Valérie’s birthday, a meal with Ismaël, an evening at the theatre): the student writes each date in full words.
Six dates written in full words (bank appointment, holidays, flat visit, restaurant, Victoria’s birthday, swimming pool): the student places them on the calendar.
Three full month grids (January, February, March), with day initials — the first quarter of the year.
