Food Choices Worksheet: What Do You Like and Dislike? (Free PDF) 👍

Twelve food pictures to name, two model speech bubbles to copy, and six personal questions to answer in full sentences: what you like to eat, what you don’t like, your favorite dish, your breakfast, and what you like or don’t like to drink. The student speaks about themselves, which is the fastest way to make the like / don’t like structure stick.

✨ Four steps, from picture to sentence

The page is built like a ladder: the pictures give the words, the speech bubbles give the sentence pattern, the questions ask for full written answers, and the example answers show what a complete answer looks like. Nothing to memorize first: the student writes about their own plate.

1 👀 Name

Say the twelve foods of the word bank aloud: pizza, chicken, fish, bread, rice, pasta…

2 🗣️ Say

Use the model bubbles: « I like to eat… » and « I don’t like to eat… ».

3 ✍️ Write

Answer the six questions in full sentences on the writing lines.

4 🤝 Share

Interview a partner, then report: « He likes… She doesn’t like… ».

🍽️ The word bank: twelve foods to name

Each picture of the word bank can go straight into a sentence. Drinks are left open on purpose: the student reuses drink words they already know (water, milk, juice, soda…).

🍕 pizza
🍗 chicken
🐟 fish
🍞 bread
🍚 rice
🍝 pasta
🧀 cheese
🥚 egg
🥕 carrots
🍟 fries
🥗 salad
🍨 ice cream
💡 Teaching tip: after the writing, pair the students for a quick interview: one asks « What do you like to eat? », the other answers, then they swap. For the report back to the class, the verb changes: I like becomes he likes, she likes. The third person s appears naturally, because the class wants to know what their friends eat.

📝 The six questions, and the pattern each one trains

Every question targets one sentence structure, so the six answers together cover the whole like / dislike system:

1❤️ What do you like to eat?I like to eat …
2🚫 What foods don’t you like?I don’t like to eat …
3🍲 What is your favorite dish?My favorite dish is …
4🥐 What do you usually eat for breakfast?I usually eat …
5🥤 What do you like to drink?I like to drink …
6🚫 What drinks don’t you like?I don’t like to drink …
🔗 Why the lists matter: questions 1, 2, 5 and 6 ask for several items, so the student has to chain words with and: « I like to eat pizza, chicken, pasta and cheese. » Punctuation and the final and come with the grammar, not after it.

🎯 What the page trains

🧩 Like / don’t like grammar

Affirmative and negative, with food nouns and with verbs: I like to eat, I don’t like to drink.

🍎 Food & drink vocabulary

Twelve pictured foods plus the drink words the student already knows, all reused in real sentences.

✍️ Writing full sentences

Six answers on lined space: capital letter, list with commas and « and », final period.

🎯 Recommended level, and more food and routine practice

💡 Best fit: A1-A2 learners in ESL classes, and native readers in grades 2 to 5 who practise writing full sentences about themselves. The topic needs zero preparation: everybody eats, everybody has opinions. More vocabulary and writing worksheets live in the English category.
