The Fingers of the Hand Worksheet
This printable English worksheet helps young learners discover the names of the five fingers. Children look at the hand, say each finger out loud, trace the dotted outline and write how many fingers there are on one hand.
The activity is provided in two paper formats, A4 and US Letter (8.5 x 11), so it prints correctly at home or at school anywhere in the world.
What students practise
Students follow three short instructions in English: look carefully at the picture of the hand, say the names of the different fingers, then write the number of fingers in the box. Along the way they learn the five finger names: the thumb, the index finger, the middle finger, the ring finger and the little finger, also called the pinkie.
The visual layout makes the worksheet useful for first English lessons, morning work, literacy centres, homeschool or a quick independent task, and tracing the dotted hand supports pencil control and fine motor skills.
