French Affirmative and Negative Answers Worksheet
This two-page French worksheet helps beginner learners give complete affirmative and negative answers to everyday questions. Instead of replying with only oui or non, students practise building a short but grammatically complete sentence.
The first page focuses on affirmative answers. The second introduces the negative structure ne… pas, including the shortened n’… pas form used before a vowel sound.

What the worksheet contains
Students answer 40 short questions about familiar situations: hunger and thirst, possessions, leisure activities, school, sport, the weather, nationality, travel and everyday habits. One completed example at the top of each page shows exactly what is expected.
✅ Page 1: affirmative sentences
Learners turn questions such as Est-ce que tu as faim ? into complete replies: Oui, j’ai faim. They practise keeping the correct subject and verb.
❌ Page 2: negative sentences
Learners answer with non and place ne… pas correctly around the conjugated verb: Non, je n’ai pas faim.
Why this activity is useful
Many beginners understand a simple question but still answer with one isolated word. This activity encourages them to reuse the wording of the question and produce a proper sentence. The repetition also makes the basic negative structure much easier to remember.
🧩 Sentence building
Students identify the subject and verb in the question, then reuse them correctly in their answer.
🗣️ Oral practice
The questions can be asked aloud before students write, making the sheet useful for pair work.
✍️ Grammar in context
The negative form is practised through meaningful everyday sentences rather than an isolated rule.
Example: Tu as un ordinateur ?
Affirmative: Oui, j’ai un ordinateur.
Negative: Non, je n’ai pas d’ordinateur.
