French Reading Comprehension A1-A2: Élodie Is a Secretary
Meet Élodie, a secretary who has been working in her profession for ten years. Through her job, students discover useful everyday and professional French: administrative tasks, communication with clients, office tools, teamwork, organization and career opportunities.
Two differentiated worksheets are available. The A1 version uses a shorter and simpler text followed by a true/false activity. The A2 version develops the same topic with richer vocabulary, comprehension questions and realistic workplace situations. A watermarked A1 PDF is available free of charge.
✨ What students practise
The topic is concrete and easy to understand: Élodie explains what a secretary does, which tools she uses, what she enjoys about her work, the qualities required for the job and the possible career paths.
Students meet useful words such as un devis, un contrat, un avenant, la bureautique, la logistique, prioriser and être polyvalent(e).
Read Élodie’s description of her job and daily responsibilities.
Identify important information about tasks, tools, clients and training.
Work with true/false statements at A1 or more detailed activities at A2.
Apply the vocabulary to realistic situations from an office environment.
🗃️ One profession, two difficulty levels
Both worksheets introduce the same character and profession, which makes them useful for mixed-ability groups or for progressing from A1 to A2.
A shorter text with simple structures. Students learn that Élodie works in a company, prepares documents, communicates with clients and uses a computer, telephone and e-mail.
A more detailed text introduces quotations, contracts, amendments, recruitment events, organization, adaptability, teamwork and different career possibilities.
The worksheets are based on a France Travail video in which Élodie presents her job. A PDF transcription of the original video is also available free of charge.
