Trace the Car’s Path
Five cars set off on five dotted journeys: children follow each vehicle and trace its path across the road, from the first slanted curve to the biggest arch.
Each road repeats one simple stroke, so little hands progress gently from easy to more demanding shapes while building the pencil control needed for writing.
What students practise
Children place their pencil at the start of each road and follow the dotted path from left to right, repeating the same stroke all the way across. Along the way they develop pencil control, visual tracking and the left-to-right direction used in reading and writing.
The five strokes cover the basic shapes found in letters and numbers: curves, angles, arcs and peaks. It makes a perfect warm-up before writing letters, or a quiet-time activity at home.
Find the car and look at the dotted path waiting on its road.
Follow the path from left to right with a pencil, a crayon or a dry-erase marker.
Each road repeats the same stroke, building confidence line after line.
Laminate the page for repeated practice, or draw extra roads and cars freehand.
Five cars, five paths
Every road works a different hand movement, from the gentlest to the most demanding:
- 🚙 The orange explorer: a path of slanted curves, a gentle warm-up.
- 🚚 The delivery truck: square steps with right angles, great for corner control.
- 🚐 The pink minivan: small rounded humps, like a quiet wave.
- 🛻 The green pickup: pointed peaks, up and down with a steady hand.
- 🚗 The little orange car: big arches, the tallest path on the page.
