Describing People, Family & Personality: Maria Introduces Her Sister and Brother
Maria tells us about her big sister Inès (21 years old, an assistant, tall with hazel eyes and curly brown hair) and her little brother Gabriel (4 years old, in kindergarten, loves Lego and wants to be a firefighter). Two portraits, one family, and a lot of vocabulary to describe people: physical appearance, personality traits, hobbies, and family relationships.
Two versions are included: a short A1 version with simple sentences and a true/false exercise, perfect for beginners; and a longer A2 version with more details and open questions, for students who want to write full answers. The A1 version with watermark is free for everybody; the clean versions and the A2 worksheet are for Premium members.
✨ What students practise
First, the reading: two portraits in one family, with physical descriptions (grande, yeux noisette, cheveux bruns bouclés), personality traits (drôle, souriante, généreuse, bruyant), hobbies (lire, sport, Lego, télé), and family relationships (grande sœur, petit frère).
Then, the comprehension: the A1 version has a true/false exercise with 8 simple questions, while the A2 version has 7 open questions that ask for full sentences. In both cases, the students have to find specific information in the text and understand the vocabulary of description. A complete reading comprehension worksheet that works the vocabulary, the grammar, and the understanding.

Find the specific information: age, job, appearance, personality, hobbies.
Answer the questions: true/false for A1, full sentences for A2.

👨👩👧 The two portraits, side by side
Maria presents her big sister Inès and her little brother Gabriel. Here is what the students will discover:
Assistant in an office. Tall, hazel eyes, long curly brown hair. Sometimes wears red glasses. Loves reading and going to the library. Does sport 2-3 times a week. Funny, smiling, generous, helpful. Has many friends.
In kindergarten, moyenne section. Smaller and younger than Maria. Curly brown hair, big eyes, small mouth. No glasses. Doesn’t like studying, prefers TV and Lego. Wants to be a firefighter, loves fire trucks. Noisy but funny.
Maria loves her big sister and her little brother. Even if Gabriel is noisy and likes to bother her sometimes, she never gets bored with him. A real family portrait, with love and humor.
