A Little Quiz About the United States of America 🦅
Twenty questions, one word bank, and a bald eagle in the corner: this little quiz checks what the students know about the United States, from the capital to the Statue of Liberty. They pick the right word from the bank, write it on the line, and learn something on the way.
The quiz covers the symbols (Uncle Sam, the Big Apple, the Statue of Liberty), the geography (Alaska, Hawaii, the Missouri River), the history (1776, Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr.) and the culture (Thanksgiving, Hollywood). The answer key is included, of course. A nice warm-up for a civilization session, or a fun review at the end of the year.
✨ What students practise
First, the word bank: 20 words and names, from « 342 » to « Washington D.C. ». And watch out: Alaska is in the bank two times, because the quiz needs it twice, and « Washington » and « Washington D.C. » are not the same answer. The students have to read carefully.
The sentences are short and clear, so the task works from A2, and the history questions (the Emancipation Proclamation, the « I Have a Dream » speech) stretch to B1. In short, a quick activity: 15 to 20 minutes in class, and a lot of fun facts to discuss after.
Read the 20 sentences about the USA.
Choose the right word from the bank — Alaska is waiting twice.
Write it on the line, with the correct spelling.
Compare with the answer key, and discuss the fun facts.
